About Josh

I'm a passionate entrepreneur, company director and leader who believes that business should be about more than simply making a profit. It's about creating opportunities, challenging barriers and making a positive difference. My journey has taken me through a variety of industries, including education, policing, accessibility, retail and events. Each experience has helped shape my approach to leadership, resilience and entrepreneurship. Today, I'm proud to be involved in several businesses, including BSL Communication Service Ltd, T & J Scents and The Event Design Collective. One of my biggest passions is championing accessibility and inclusion, particularly for the Deaf community. Through BSL Communication Service Ltd, I work to improve communication access and help organisations become more inclusive. I'm also passionate about developing brands, supporting people and turning ambitious ideas into successful businesses. I believe great leadership is about determination, creativity, compassion and having the courage to do things differently. I'm proud of what I've achieved so far, but even more excited about what comes next.

Proudest achievements

Establishing and developing BSL Communication Service Ltd, helping break down communication barriers and improve accessibility for Deaf people across the UK.
Delivering British Sign Language interpreting and accessibility services for projects involving nationally recognised organisations, including the House of Lords, BBC and NHS.
Building and developing T & J Scents as an independent, family-supported home fragrance business, growing its product range, customer community and retail opportunities.

About BSL Communication Service Ltd

I'm proud to be involved in three businesses, each with its own identity but sharing the same values of quality, innovation and making a positive difference. BSL Communication Service Ltd is a specialist British Sign Language interpreting, translation and accessibility service. We work with organisations, businesses and individuals to break down communication barriers for Deaf people. Our work has included projects involving the House of Lords, NHS services and the BBC, demonstrating our commitment to making accessibility a priority rather than an afterthought. T & J Scents is an independent home fragrance business offering handcrafted products, including refillable candles, wax melts and home fragrance solutions. Sustainability, creativity and customer experience are central to the brand, with a growing community of loyal customers. The Event Design Collective brings creativity to weddings, corporate events and celebrations through bespoke styling and decorative installations. Although these businesses operate in different sectors, they reflect my belief that successful businesses are built through passion, adaptability, exceptional service and a genuine commitment to the people they serve.

I'm incredibly proud to work alongside talented, dedicated and passionate individuals who share my commitment to delivering exceptional experiences. At BSL Communication Service Ltd, we work with skilled British Sign Language interpreters and communication professionals who play an essential role in ensuring Deaf people can access information, services and opportunities equally. At T & J Scents, I'm fortunate to work alongside my partner, Tom, and my mum, who both play important roles in the business. Tom brings creativity, dedication and expertise to developing and producing our home fragrance products, while my mum provides valuable communication support and helps with preparing, packing and processing customer orders. Working together as a family makes the business particularly special, and their commitment has been instrumental in helping the brand grow. Across my businesses, I believe in creating an environment where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to contribute their skills and ideas. For me, leadership isn't about taking all the credit. It's about recognising people's strengths, supporting their development and celebrating what we achieve together. I'm particularly proud that our businesses bring together family, professional expertise and a shared passion for making a difference.

The journey

My journey into entrepreneurship hasn't followed a traditional path, and I believe that's one of my greatest strengths. My career began in the performing arts before taking me into policing, education and careers leadership. Each chapter taught me valuable lessons about resilience, communication, responsibility and the importance of helping others succeed. Alongside my professional career, I developed my passion for business and entrepreneurship, learning how to turn ideas into something meaningful. One of my proudest achievements has been developing BSL Communication Service Ltd, a business driven by the belief that Deaf people deserve equal access to communication and opportunities. Seeing our services contribute to projects involving nationally recognised organisations has been incredibly rewarding. I've also helped develop T & J Scents into a growing home fragrance brand and established The Event Design Collective, allowing me to explore another passion for creativity and design. Building businesses while balancing other professional responsibilities has required determination, sacrifice and a willingness to learn from setbacks. There have been challenges, unexpected obstacles and moments of uncertainty, but each has strengthened my determination. I'm not motivated simply by business success. I'm motivated by what that success can achieve for others, the opportunities it can create and the barriers it can help remove.

Through T & J Scents and The Event Design Collective, I've demonstrated that creativity, determination and family values can turn ideas into growing businesses. My journey hasn't always been straightforward. I've balanced different careers, business responsibilities and personal challenges, but I've never lost sight of why I started.
